Tutoring Tailored to You

I am pleased to be able to offer tutoring sessions in English, Maths, French, and 11+ subjects at a variety of levels. Each subject, and person, is different, and I pride myself on ensuring that we work in a way that suits you. Whether you are a GCSE student wanting to pass your Maths or English exams, an adult learner wanting to brush up on your French, or a parent searching for the right tutor for their child, I would love to hear from you.

French

Up to and including university level

From beginner to nearly native, or somewhere in between, for students who are interested in learning French from scratch or would like to improve their current level, I can offer a variety of lessons on many different topics. These include grammar, vocabulary, exam practice, conversation practice, university assignment support, and much more. As well as beginner French, I can teach sessions based on GCSE or A-Level courses, and provide support to university students.

English

Up to and including A-Level

English is a key skill, and an English qualification can open a huge amount of doors. Since it is a subject with no “right or wrong answers”, it can require a more personalised programme to really unlock a student’s potential. I offer lessons focused on writing to help students express themselves, and on developing literacy and comprehension skills, so students can feel confident interacting with language around them as well as finding success in their SATs, GCSEs, A-Levels, or other examinations.

Maths

Up to and including GCSE

Maths is the Marmite of school subjects; people either love it or they hate it! Whatever your preference, I love to try to make maths fun and interesting for my students. Personalised tuition is perfect for maths as every brain works differently, and I love discovering each student’s individual approach. I can help students prepare for SATs, 11+, or GCSE Maths examinations, or simply improve their skills and confidence.

11+

The 11+ can seem daunting, for students and parents alike, as it often focuses on subjects that aren’t covered in schools, such as Verbal and Non-verbal Reasoning. With my help, students can develop a good understanding of these topics, as well as the Maths and English portions, to improve their confidence and chances for success. This is not just practice tests; this is personalised tuition that focuses on giving students the tools to do it by themselves.

English as an Additional Language

I am pleased to be able to offer support for students for whom English is not their first language. My approach focuses on improving both conversational and academic English skills, and I can also offer lessons specifically for Business English. As a linguist, I love to integrate students’ other languages into lessons so that we can find links to English, and so that students can be their authentic selves when they speak and write in English. Please contact me for more information about this.

SEN

For students who have additional needs, it is important to have a teacher who understands the challenges they may be facing, and knows how to be a safe and fun part of their world. This is what I try to be for my students. I have experience with working with students on the Autism spectrum, students with ADHD, and with possible dyslexia and dyscalculia. My approach puts an emphasis on personal achievement and autonomy, giving the student the tools they need to succeed as independently as they can.
