Privacy Policy
This privacy policy sets out the data I collect from you when you use this site and how I store and process it. The policy may change from time to time, and you can see any changes by checking back here. The last update to this policy occurred on 17 February 2024.
Who I Am
My full name is Eleanor Mary Austin and my website address is https://ematutoring.com. You can contact me about any aspect of this policy at [email protected].
The Personal Data I Collect and Why I Collect It
If you fill out and submit the form on the Contact page, I will collect:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your phone number (if you choose to provide one)
- Whether you or the student you fill out the form on behalf of has any special educational needs
- Whether you or the student you fill out the form on behalf of has English as an additional language
- Any other information you choose to provide under the How can I help? section
I collect this data for the sole purposes of liaising with you in order to organise lessons and to gain an understanding of my students’ needs so that I can tailor my lessons appropriately.
When visitors leave comments on blog articles, I collect the data shown in the comments form for the purpose of displaying the comment, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service Privacy Policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
I rely on the lawful basis for data processing under Article 6(1)(f) of the UK GDPR (my legitimate interests to provide tuition services and run a blog) to collect the above information. I do not pass your data on to any third parties with the one exception of Antispam Bee by Pluginkollektiv: an anti-spam service that I use for blog comments. You can find out more about how Pluginkollektiv processes your data here.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on this site, you may opt in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. This is for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
This site uses some other cookies, but none of them store your personal data. Like the above, they are necessary for the functioning of the site.
Embedded Content from Other Websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
How Long I Retain Your Data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
I will retain any data I collect from you via the Contact page form for as long as I am in contact with you, and for up to a year afterwards.
The Rights You Have over Your Data
Under the UK GDPR, you have the following rights over your data:
- The right to access personal data held about you (the right of subject access)
- The right to be informed about how and why your data is used (detailed in this policy)
- The rights to have your data rectified, erased or restricted (allowing me to store your data but not use it in any way)
- The right to object (to the processing of your personal data)
- The right to portability of your data (the right to receive personal data you have provided to me in a structured, commonly used and machine readable format)
- The right not to be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing (I do not make any decisions based on automated processing)
You can submit a request pertaining to any of the above rights or withdraw consent for the processing of your data at any time by contacting me at [email protected]. You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority. In the UK, you can send complaints to the Information Commissioner’s Office by visiting https://ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/ or calling 0303 123 1113.
